The Accountant 2
Tax Day. Once described as that magic time of year where the Internal Revenue Service knows exactly how much money you owe them, but they won’t tell you what that amount is. Instead, they’ll make you try and figure it out on your own and if you get wrong, they’ll arrest you. Fortunately, this Tax Day also means an early access screening of The Accountant 2 starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal! Marie Curie could not have made better chemistry than these two!
I must say, this movie starts with a slower pace and feels like they’re trying to build a universe. However, they creatively sprinkle in several comedic scenes, some minor action sequences and a puzzle that needs solved to keep your attention until the third act. Once that final action piece kicks off though, put on your helmet and buckle up! This full on assault of an enemy compound features superb gunplay, grenade launchers and some solid hand to hand combat. And if you watch it on a Dolby Digital surround sound system, there’s a 1 out of 1 chance you’ll pee a little when the first grenade explodes.
In the end, we’re giving this our “Rent It” rating. We considered the incredible action sequence at the end of the film and the slow burn at the beginning that didn’t feature several cinematic pieces and concluded that this film is worth paying for, but it can probably be enjoyed from the comfort of your living room. Hopefully you have a quality sound bar. If not, buy one with your tax refund. Remember, anyone who spends all their money is a non-profit! (I think that’s how it works…)
