Roofman

This would be a great name for a movie about Santa Claus. However, this movie is not about a jovial saint, that despite ignoring his dietician’s advice, is in surprisingly great shape. I mean the guy’s been alive for a thousand years and can scale buildings. He’s doing something right.

This film, however, is about a real life criminal that robbed 45 McDonald’s by breaking in through the roof and holding up the workers as they’d come in for their morning shift. He went to prison and escaped, then lived in a Toys R Us for 6 months while on the run. It’s a wild story that stars Channing Tatum.

Much like the time I fell into the concrete stirrer at my local construction site, this movie gave me mixed feelings. One second I’m empathizing with the main character, then I remember he’s an armed robber stealing thousands of dollars. It’s because this a true story and it’s so bonkers, it makes for an intriguing watch. For this reason, we’re giving this our “Rent It” rating. And for the right generation, there are plenty of late 90s/early 2000 throwbacks as a bonus. You see a McDonald’s from that era, a Toy R Us and...wait for it…a Blockbuster.

Pilates! Sorry, it just popped into my head. I wonder if Santa’s secret to fitness is Pilates? I should probably Google it.
