The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
I love a good true story where the odds are stacked against the good guys to pull off a seemingly impossible task, which is probably why I’ll never forget the time my brother and I had to stop once we popped a can of Pringles (they said it couldn’t be done). The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, however, tells a much greater story of the first British Special Forces team in World War II tasked with a mission of much higher stakes.
I really enjoyed this movie. The story is compelling, the characters are entertaining and there is some really great action! Remember the Vader hallway scene from Rogue One (if not, go watch Rogue One)? Well, picture that but Alan Ritchson’s character clearing a Nazi submarine of enemy sailors. I won’t give anything else away, but after watching it you’ll want to stop what you’re doing and go learn archery.
We’re giving this our “Go to the Theater to See” rating. It’s not an over the top cinematic spectacle that needs to be seen on the big screen, but it’s an amazing story that educates you in an entertaining way and is simply great movie making! And until someone decides to make a feature about my childhood Pringle chronicles, this movie will have to do.
