Spiderman: Brand New Day

There are a million and ten Marvel movies out there these days, but Spiderman has always been my favorite. You know how parents are supposed to say they love all their kids the same and they don’t have a favorite? Well, I’m telling you right now, I love Spiderman the most. I’m buying him a car and opening a college savings account for him and all the other superheroes better hope for scholarships.

This movie starts slower than the others and even carries a more serious tone, but it does what all the other Spiderman films do and it captures the heart of the character. I particularly liked seeing Spiderman getting back to his roots as a friendly neighborhood Spiderman protecting the city of New York, as opposed to saving the galaxy in space. This is where Spidey thrives and it makes for a grounded atmosphere in a story that is otherwise about a guy with spider powers. However, the dynamic between John Bernthal’s Punisher and Tom Holland’s Spiderman is by far the best part in this humble movie watcher’s bias opinion.

In conclusion, we’re giving this our “Go to the Theater to See” rating. There are some big screen battles between some classic heroes that are worth admiring on the big screen. And we get to see angry hulk again in this one! I’ve been so sick of seeing tamed Professor Hulk with his anger management issues in check. If I wanted to see a jacked academic I’d buy Neil deGrasse Tyson a gym membership and a bowl of creatine.
