Office Romance
I was so happy to see this movie starred and was written by Brett Goldstein, famously known for his role of Roy Kent from the Apple TV show: Ted Lasso, as I am a really big Ted Lasso fan. “Big” as in my sense of appreciation, not “big” as in my stature. I am of average height and weight. I mean I could probably afford to lose a few pounds, but we all know those Body Mass Index charts are outdated. The real question is how did this movie size up.
In short, if you’re looking for a romantic comedy with plenty of laugh out loud moments, this is the movie for you. Goldstein’s clever comedic style that you see in Ted Lasso is apparent throughout the film, and it pairs well with the classic romantic comedy tropes that we know from many of Jenifer Lopez’s romcom works. There’s also plenty of office humor for those that work in Human Resources. I know our very own Brenda from HR loved it. And I know what all of the hardcore A Movie Review Website fans are thinking right now: “Wait, in your Dr. Strange review you said your HR lady’s name was ‘Janice’, and in the Bad Boys review you said it was ‘Veronica’, now it’s Brenda?!?” Look, don’t worry about how the sausage is made. Just enjoy the sausage.
In conclusion, we are giving this film our “Rent It” rating, despite it being free on Netflix. The romcom is a specific category of film and if that’s what you’re looking for, this will check all the boxes while adding some freshness to classic genre. And this isn’t just my opinion, it’s also Sarah’s from HR.
