Freakier Friday
Freaky Friday. Perhaps the best known Friday in the world of cinema, with the exception of maybe Detective Joe Friday. That fact loving, straight to the point detective telling civilians their loved ones were brutally killed without even batting an eye…gotta love him. But as for the 2003 Disney film, Freaky Friday, let’s talk its newly released sequel: Freakier Friday.
Look, I thought this was going to be another legacy sequel with a few cameos of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsey Lohan phoning it in while they introduce new characters for a new generation. This was not the case. I’d consider the original pair the leads of this film, with some other great new additions. They also brought in some of the smaller characters from the original film, as most long awaited sequels do, just to let you know what they’ve been up to. Wondering what the caterer that has like 4 mins of airtime in the original has been up to? Find out here!
In conclusion, we’re giving this our “Wait for Streaming” rating. It’s a fun, family friendly sequel and Jamie Lee Curtis is an absolute boss as always! At moments, this body switch film can be a little confusing because four people have switched bodies this time instead of two, but its still a fun watch and delivers strong nostalgia vibes if you liked the original. We reached out to Detective Joe Friday for his opinion on this film and he simple stated “This movie is 1 hour and 50 minutes long.”
